More studies...

A few more composition studies using just 2 values. Theme for these was 'chair'. It was a challenge to make a simple chair interesting using just two values. I'm still struggling to make a clear statement and a sense of mood through these studies. I'm doing these studies as a warm up with my very talented friend Ankush Cholia. Check him out :)

Juice on wheels...

I started this one as a warm up and went a little bit farther to clean it up. I have been studying art work of the amazing Carter Goodrich these days and took one of his character design as a shape inspiration for this one. I definitely changed the basic shapes according to my requirement as I went even farther. I find this exercise really helpful to understand why these designs by great artists are so successful as long as we don't exactly what they have done but get to the essence of their design. Let me know what you think about it :)

Execution...

Wanted to tryout Mayan architecture so I used one of the topics from our daily art challenge in office as an excuse and came up with this one.

A study in Red...

I wanted to experiment with just one color and came up with this painting. It was really an interesting exercise as it gets very difficult to create different color temperatures while painting with different tones of just one color. Will be doing a few more studies like this :)

Kitchen interior...

warm-up studies and sketches...

Here are some  virtual plein-air studies using mapcrunch for reference. I spent around 15 to 20 mins on each of em. Goal is to reduce this time to 10 mins which will help me to learn to observe and capture the essence of what is in front of me in less time without getting trapped into details. Hope you like it :)

And here is a warm-up sketch inspired by my Ladakh trip last month. Will be posting some photographs soon.

Daily practice...

Here is a quick warm up sketch before work. I used mapcrunch for reference and tried to imagine that location in different color and lighting to convey an emotion.
